Screw-up

Yesterday went ok, calm, in control, I won a small amount after a horrific start, did my chores and settled in to the new regime. Even won a couple hundred extra when Lucy texted to say she’d be home late. But then….

… got thrown from the off, trying to push pacific poker’s new multi-tabling too hard, playing blind without hand grabber. AA, AQ, AK cracked in no short order started a $600 slide. No problem, I figure, its not in my poker tracker database, it doesn’t count. Now lets play party and get even. Damn. Bye-bye $800. Bad beats don’t even begin to tell the story. Bad beats? What about bad play, too? That’s what I’ve got to look at if this is ever going to be serious. So I grab SSHE and start working through the hand quizzes. Pre-flop, check; Flop-play, check… but definitely some weaknesses (awareness of equity, value of additional draws, hand protection in big pots).

Some new resolutions: Get up properly before playing. Work before playing. Cut tilt tables as soon as they become a problem. Look for better times to be playing.

So tomorrow, before play I will: complete SSHE quizzes, review complete hand histories for this week, post troublesome hands.

Pacific Love

Pacific 3/6 and 2/4 6max: 252 hands 21 April
Net: $129

Gotta love Pacific. OK, it’s not real poker. I mean screw hand-reading, pot odds and counting outs, there is just so much bad play you just have to play position and starting hands. Get involved in every pot, value raise trash, call down with trash, just play fast, fast, fast. Love the LAG in you. Started this morning with a $220 downswing in 100 hands, kept playing with a smile and saw it through to a win in the next 100. That’ll do nicely.

Welcome

God doesn't play dice, she plays poker. I guess it means that life isn't
luck, life isn't preordained, life is where the two collide. A bit like poker.
Suck-outs get ahead, long-shots scoop the pot, but, hand after hand
after hand, ability wins, knowledge works, and attitude is rewarded.
Just don't tell me about hard work.

This site is about the education of an internet-age poker player. It is a
repository of information, a vent for feelings, and a +EV waste of my
time. Enjoy.
