Gadgets and Gizmos

Poker Tracker

A must-have. Shut up and buy it. www.pokertracker.com

PokerAce Heads-up Display

If you multi-table you've got to have PokerAce Heads-up Display. If you don't, you've got to have PokerAce Heads-up Display. The best heads-up display around, though there are some incompatible sites. Pacific Poker is still in beta testing, and uses way too many system resources, while GameTime+ is free (see below). Buy it anyway.

Poker Stove

Another must-have for serious players. Very, very useful for understanding what VPIP (voluntarily put money in pot) and PFR (pre-flop raise) percentages and ranges really mean, as well as its main focus, running pot-equity calculations based on your opponent's probable holdings.

Poker Grapher

Do you like pretty graphs? Get PokerGrapher.

Poker Patterns

Do you want more pretty patterns? Get PokerPatterns.

GameTime+

Not as neat as PA HUD (above) but GameTime+ (link via the PokerTracker homepage) is useful to have, particularly on a low-spec computer.

Pacific Poker Handgrabber

Handgrabber does a lot of iffy things so you can get instant hand histories out of Pacific Poker and run PT/GameTime+. Use it.

Poker Academy

Simulation software, supposed to be the best poker articial intelligence around, but it never feels like a REAL poker game. Still, useful to mess around with before playing sit-n-go's and for practice before making a transition from limit to no-limit or back again. PartyPoker now have an online version available for free, but if you want to buy (or get a trial) then www.poker-academy.com

FlopTurnRiver Hand Converter

FTR seem to have the standard hand converter. Don't think much of their forums, though new players may like the stickie introduction posts.
